Human Mind expresses beautifully through emotions, intellect and behavior. With humans this is true with every instance, may it be acceptable or unacceptable, predictable or unpredictable. Every action is followed by a reaction. Behind these actions are our thoughts and feelings.
Today, I am sharing one of the recent experiences that changed my outlook and lead me to a healthier life. A kick start to New Year 2020.
December .... Long-awaited holidays arrived. My friends from various directions travelled to celebrate Christmas and New Year together. With a jolt bolt, we started our journey.
Everyone had their own interests. One wanted to party, one ski, another wished to relax & enjoy sun bath and one was keen to explore new places. So, we decided to club everything and planned a long road trip of 10 days.
During our journey, we met new people, visited different places, enjoyed various rides, clicked too many photos, listened to music, appreciated nature and did numerous other activities. It was fun, informative and also relaxing. We tried to fulfil each other’s wishes but unfortunately, skiing was left unattempted. And that made one of my friends very angry, which not only ruined our entire trip but also brought bitterness in our Friendships.
His reaction reminded me of my past experience...
Once, even I had got agitated and reacted over my friend for not able to complete my “To Do“ list in the tour. That time “my friend” - “my guide” had asked me to maintain calm. She made me understand that I cannot complete everything at one time. I need not to lose control but to remain patient. I wanted to do every single ride at Universal Studios in one day.
Life is so unpredictable! It has its own vivid ways of showing us the mirror.
You never lose, you always learn.
This time I was the spectator and not the participant. As I had gone through a similar experience in the past, I could relate through my friends’ feelings and help him out.
Now, when I retrospectively introspect these incidences, they help me conceptualize. It is not necessary we get what we want in life. There are times when we have to adjust and compromise. Just, we need to be ready. Accept the facts.
It’s human nature to react to unacceptable and unpredictable instances. But we often forget the implications to such reactions. It explicitly affects our healthy relationships which we develop with compassion. And they get dis-cordial. By the time we bring pieces together, it gets too late and leaves a scar. In the heat of that moment, we land up doing such things which we regret later.
This is how I celebrated my last year-end and started a new year with learning.
Many of you must have faced such small things but they turned out to be life changing. Share your experiences, involved emotions and take-home lessons with us. We will also learn. After all, “Learning is a process” ... !!!
Happy New Year 2020
